Budget Web Hosting Reviews

What is 'budget' hosting?
We consider any hosting plan or package that offers reasonable features for under $10 a month to be a 'budget' hosting plan.

Budget hosts generally sell in bulk, which brings their costs down. This means that instead of sharing a server with a handful of other people, you'll be sharing with hundreds of other Web sites. This process is usually transparent to you, and many budget hosts have high specification machines which keep shared machines running fast.

Disadvantages to Budget Hosts
While some budget hosts keep their machines and networks well maintained, some can 'oversell' their servers by a margin, leading to reduced service for the customers. Symptoms include slow FTP access, slow CGI scripts, and a general lack of responsiveness from sites hosted with that ISP during busy periods.

These reviews are provided to help you weed out the good from the bad. Most of the host reviews also have side reviews from actual customers of the ISP, allowing you to get any good or bad news straight from the existing customers' mouths.

E-Commerce Web Hosting

How we rank e-commerce hosts
E-commerce hosts are ranked in the same way as all other hosts on the site. This may mean that hosts may not be in order of how good they are at e-commerce, but in order of their overall rating. This means you should definitely check out all of the ISPs which seem to match your requirements, as an e-commerce host with a low score, may actually be the best in its field, but falls short in more general areas.

Look out for features
You will want to examine hosts closely to see if they offer the features you require. Some hosts, such as Globat, only offer an OSCommerce shopping cart e-commerce hosting plan. Other hosts, such as BizHosting, offer a free merchant account, which may prove useful.

Windows Web Hosting

What's special about Windows hosting?
A Web server is, in many ways, similar to a typical PC as you may have in front of you now. While the machine is tailored to 'serving' Web pages over a network, the machine has to run an 'Operating System' like any other machine.

The most common operating system at home and in offices is Windows, and there are many Web servers that run this operating system too. Most Web servers, however, run a free operating system called Linux or FreeBSD. These operating systems are more suited to the high demand work that Web servers do.

For compatability or task-specific reasons, however, many people look specifically for Windows hosting. The list below shows our small selection of reviews for hosts that offer this feature.
